Remoasset vs Fleet

Fleet rents you devices on a per-device leasing subscription, renewed every three years. Remoasset runs the whole laptop lifecycle on hardware you own, with native MDM, certified wiping and a written 24/7 SLA behind it.

The Problem 01

Every device carries a contract, and the rent never stops

Fleet's OPEX pitch is genuinely attractive on day one: no down payment, bundled warranty, a loaner during repairs. But leasing means every laptop in your fleet is a multi-year financial commitment to a vendor, and at the end of each cycle, you own nothing.

  • ×Per-device rental continues even when the device sits idle after a leaver
  • ×Devices return to Fleet at end of cycle — no equity, no resale value on your side
  • ×One bundled MDM rather than the platform your security team chose
  • ×Reconditioning at end of lease, without a published certified wiping standard
The Fix 02

The whole lifecycle handled, on devices that stay yours

Remoasset runs procurement, management, retrieval, wiping and storage as an operations layer, while the hardware, and every dollar of value in it, stays on your side of the ledger.

  • You own the devices; redeploy, resell or recycle them on your terms
  • Native MDM across five platforms
  • Certified data wiping to NIST 800-88
  • 24/7 Total Care+ with a 3-day replacement guarantee, no lease required

Fleet's support terms and certifications are genuinely strong. Where Remoasset differs is structural: who owns the hardware, who chooses the MDM, and whether leaving means unwinding a lease.

Where it counts 04

Three places this decision is really made

Ownership

Rent preserves cash. Ownership preserves value.

Fleet's no-down-payment leasing genuinely helps cash flow, and for some finance teams the OPEX structure is exactly right. But the rent runs for the life of the cycle, and at the end the devices go back. The residual value that a well-managed fleet builds up belongs to the lessor, not to you.

Remoasset keeps the assets on your balance sheet and runs the lifecycle around them: procurement in-country, management, retrieval, certified wiping, then storage with redeploy, recycle and resell pathways. When a three-year-old laptop still has value, that value is recovered to you, not netted into someone else's renewal offer.

Flexibility

Teams change faster than lease terms

Distributed teams grow, shrink, and shift countries mid-year. Under per-device leasing, every one of those changes meets a contract: the leaver whose device is still under rental, the team downsized with twelve months left on the cycle, the country you exit while the equipment agreements run on.

Remoasset is built for that churn. Pay-as-you-go or a flat subscription, cancel anytime, no per-device commitments. When someone leaves, we retrieve the laptop, wipe it to NIST 800-88, and put it back to work for the next hire, because it is your laptop to redeploy.

Security

A second life for the device needs a defensible end for the data

Fleet's end-of-lease program of reconditioning, donation and recycling is a genuinely responsible approach to e-waste, and its platform holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications. But its public materials do not name the data wiping standard applied before a device moves to its second life, and for a regulated team, an unnamed standard is a question your auditor will ask.

Remoasset wipes returned devices to the NIST 800-88 standard, the reference framework auditors and security teams cite by name. Redeployment, resale and recycling all start from a defensible record that the data was destroyed.

What Fleet users dislike, according to Trustpilot

Fleet's customer reviews live on Trustpilot rather than G2. Drawn from the negative reviews and the profile's own statistics, in our own words.

Replacement delays

A company founder who relied heavily on Fleet left a one-star review after his laptop broke and the replacement took five weeks to arrive, with the wait attributed to delivery problems. He described the service as bad and said he would not choose Fleet again — while the rent on the broken device, under a lease, keeps running.

Company Founder · 1-star review · Trustpilot
A base of 1-star reviews

The one-star review above is not alone. Fleet's profile carries multiple one-star reviews — enough of them that even a satisfied long-term customer opened their five-star review by remarking on how many one-star reviews they had read on the page.

Fleet Trustpilot profile · 4.2/5 across 125+ reviews
Slow complaint response

Trustpilot's own profile statistics for Fleet show the company has replied to only half of its negative reviews, and typically takes over a month to reply when it does — a notable gap for a vendor whose headline support promise is a response within two hours.

Trustpilot profile statistics · 2026
The pattern

Under a lease, a service failure compounds: you keep paying rent on a device nobody can use while the replacement is in transit. Remoasset's answer is contractual — a written 3-day express replacement guarantee backed by a global spare pool, on hardware you own outright.

Being straight with you 07

The honest call on fit

No tool wins every time. Here is where each one is the right choice, so you can decide with clear eyes.

Choose Fleet if

For bundled leasing with strong support, it is a fair choice.

  • Your finance team specifically wants an OPEX rental structure with no down payment
  • You want warranty, insurance and a loaner device bundled into one monthly fee
  • A guaranteed refresh every 3 years matters more than owning the hardware
  • Your footprint is concentrated in France and Western Europe

Choose Remoasset if

You want the operation handled, on devices that stay yours.

  • You want to own your hardware and recover its value at every stage
  • Your headcount and countries change faster than lease terms allow
  • Certified NIST 800-88 destruction matters for compliance
  • Your team spans the Middle East and APAC as well as Europe
Switching 08

Moving from Fleet to Remoasset

Leased fleets do not switch overnight, and we do not pretend they do. The usual path is to run new hires and new countries on Remoasset first, with owned devices, native MDM, structured retrieval and certified wiping from day one, while your existing lease cycles run their course.

As each cycle ends, those seats move across instead of renewing. Within one refresh cycle, the whole fleet is yours, managed end to end, with no per-device contracts left to unwind.

FAQ 09

Questions teams ask before switching

Isn't leasing with Fleet easier on cash flow than owning devices?+
The OPEX argument is real: leasing spreads cost into a monthly rental with no down payment, and for some finance teams that structure is exactly right. The trade is that the rent never stops and you own nothing at the end of each cycle. Remoasset keeps the assets on your side: you own the hardware, and the operations layer is either pay-as-you-go or a $1,499 per year subscription with no locked contract. We will model both structures against your real fleet before you decide.
Fleet includes MDM, warranty and a loaner device. What does Remoasset add?+
Native MDM across five platforms rather than one bundled solution, so your security stack stays your choice. A structured retrieval process with follow-ups and quality control. Certified data wiping to NIST 800-88. Local storage with redeploy, recycle and resell pathways on devices you own. And a written 24/7 SLA with a 3-day express replacement guarantee. All of it without a lease agreement attached to every device in your fleet.
What happens to devices when employees leave?+
Under a lease, a leaver's device is still under contract, and the rental continues until the device is returned or reassigned within the leasing terms. With Remoasset, the device is yours: we retrieve it with follow-ups and quality control, wipe it to NIST 800-88, then store, redeploy, recycle or resell it. Shrinking or restructuring a team never leaves you paying rent on hardware nobody is using.
Fleet is ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified. Where does Remoasset stand?+
Fleet holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications today, credit where it's due. Remoasset has SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 in progress, alongside HIPAA alignment. Where Remoasset goes further is the security operations themselves, including certified NIST 800-88 destruction on returned devices. If a current certificate is a hard gate, we will tell you exactly where we stand.
