Remoasset: A Dots Alternative

Remoasset vs Dots

Dots pairs ITAM tracking software with a logistics marketplace where vendors bid on your orders. Remoasset runs the whole laptop lifecycle for you as a managed operations layer, with native MDM, certified wiping and a written 24/7 SLA behind it.

The Problem 01

A dashboard and a bidding pool still leave you the operator

Dots gives you visibility: assets tracked, vendors bidding, orders flowing. But it is built software-first. Your team drives the platform, manages the MDM it integrates with, and owns everything between the dashboard and the outcome.

  • ×MDM is an integration with tools you already run, not a managed service
  • ×Pro plan procurement is limited to 2 geographies; full coverage means Enterprise
  • ×Asset disposition without a published certified wiping standard
  • ×Delivery SLAs improve by plan tier, but no published replacement guarantee
The Fix 02

The whole operation handled, not just visible

Remoasset covers the same procurement, delivery, warehousing and offboarding ground, then runs all of it as an operations layer, with every country available on every plan.

  • Native MDM across five platforms
  • 80+ countries with no geography gating between plans
  • Certified data wiping to NIST 800-88
  • 24/7 Total Care+ with a 3-day replacement guarantee

Where it counts 04

Three places this decision is really made

Operating model

Visibility is not the same as being operated

Dots is honest about what it is: ITAM software with a logistics network attached. The dashboard shows you every asset, and the bidding pool finds you a vendor. But between the two sits the actual work: chasing the pickup that slipped, resolving the delivery stuck in customs, coordinating the offboarding across three time zones. In a software model, that work belongs to your IT team.

Remoasset inverts it: you name the outcome, whether that is a new hire equipped or a leaver's device back, wiped and re-deployed, and our team runs the coordination, the follow-ups and the exceptions. The platform is how you see it happening, not another system your team has to drive.

Coverage

Coverage you have to upgrade into isn't really coverage

Dots ships to over 150 countries, and that reach is real. But on the published Pro plan, procurement is limited to two geographies; procuring across all supported markets is an Enterprise conversation. If your hiring map grows faster than your contract tier, your coverage has a ceiling built into the pricing page.

Remoasset's 80+ countries work the same on pay-as-you-go and on the subscription. In-country procurement, delivery, retrieval and storage, with particular depth in the Middle East and APAC, are never gated behind an upgrade. When you hire in a new country, you just hire there.

Security

Disposition is a process. Certified destruction is a record.

Dots handles EOL asset disposition through its logistics network, and its platform is SOC 2 compliant, credit where it's due. But its public materials do not name the wiping standard applied when a device comes back, and for a regulated team, an unnamed standard is a question your auditor will ask.

Remoasset wipes returned devices to the NIST 800-88 standard, the reference framework auditors and security teams cite by name. For teams in finance or healthcare, that is the difference between a clean offboarding and an open item in your next compliance review.

What Dots users dislike, according to G2

Drawn from the "What do you dislike" sections of public Dots reviews on G2. These are the recurring complaints reviewers report, in our own words.

Feature gating

An IT manager at a mid-market company flagged that SSO is not available below the Enterprise tier — describing the ability to enforce identity-provider login as a basic security requirement that his plan level lacks.

IT Manager · Mid-Market (51–1,000 emp.) · Jan 2026
Delivery delays

Another mid-market IT manager reported that deliveries are sometimes delayed without explanation — leaving teams waiting on hardware with no clear reason why or when it will arrive.

IT Manager · Mid-Market (51–1,000 emp.) · Jan 2026
Pricing opacity

A reviewer in telecommunications noted that the catalog shows no price estimates at all — pricing only appears after submitting an order request, and even then it is non-binding, adding an extra step to every purchase decision.

Verified User, Telecom · Mid-Market · Feb 2026
Geographic caveats

A COO at a small business cautioned that adding new service areas can require extra work, and advised buyers to verify the specific countries they ship to and from before committing — especially far-reaching or restricted regions.

COO · Small-Business (≤50 emp.) · Jul 2024
Bugs & performance

Multiple reviewers mention occasional site bugs and periods of slow system performance, with fixes arriving only after users report the issues. A co-founder separately noted the initial setup takes time to understand.

The pattern

These complaints share a shape: capabilities gated by tier, costs revealed late, deliveries and coverage that need chasing. Remoasset's answer is structural: every country and every feature on every plan, published subscription pricing, and a written delivery and replacement SLA.

Being straight with you 07

The honest call on fit

No tool wins every time. Here is where each one is the right choice, so you can decide with clear eyes.

Choose Dots if

For software-first asset tracking with logistics attached, it is a fair choice.

  • Your first problem is tracking, and you want free ITAM software before anything else
  • You like the vendor-bidding model for squeezing procurement quotes
  • You already run your own MDM and want it integrated, not replaced
  • A current SOC 2 certificate is a hard gate for your procurement team

Choose Remoasset if

You want the operation handled, not just tracked.

  • You want management, retrieval, wiping and storage run for you, not by you
  • Certified NIST 800-88 destruction matters for compliance
  • You want a written 24/7 SLA with a 3-day replacement guarantee
  • You want every country available on every plan, with Middle East and APAC depth
Switching 08

Moving from Dots to Remoasset

If your assets already live in Dots, nothing breaks on day one. We layer in the parts software leaves with your team, usually native MDM enrollment and management, structured retrieval and certified NIST 800-88 wiping, on a single country or team first, and your asset records come across with the devices.

Once you see the lifecycle running without your team operating it, we extend procurement and the rest of the operation across your countries at the pace that suits you.

FAQ 09

Questions teams ask before switching

Dots has a free ITAM platform. Isn't that cheaper than Remoasset?+
The free tier covers the tracking software. The logistics services, including procurement, delivery, warehousing and on/offboarding, sit behind the paid plans, with Pro published at $3,500 per year and Enterprise on custom terms. Remoasset's subscription is $1,499 per year with no geography gating, and pay-as-you-go is available for teams of 5 to 50 employees, so you are never forced into a plan. We will model both structures against your real usage before you decide.
What does Remoasset do that Dots doesn't?+
Native MDM across five platforms, Miradore, Kandji, Hexnode, Intune and Jamf, rather than integrations with an MDM you already run. A structured retrieval process with follow-ups and quality control. Certified data wiping to the NIST 800-88 standard. And a written 24/7 support SLA with a 3-day express replacement guarantee and a global spare pool. Most importantly, all of it runs as a managed operations layer rather than software your team operates.
Dots Pro limits procurement to 2 geographies. Does Remoasset gate countries by plan?+
No. Remoasset's 80+ country coverage applies on both pay-as-you-go and the subscription plan. There is no tier where adding a new hiring country requires an upgrade conversation. When you hire somewhere new, you just hire there.
Dots is SOC 2 compliant. Where does Remoasset stand?+
Dots holds SOC 2 compliance today, and its platform is GDPR compliant, credit where it's due. Remoasset has SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 in progress, alongside HIPAA alignment. Where Remoasset goes further is in the security operations themselves, including certified NIST 800-88 destruction on returned devices. If a current certificate is a hard gate, we will tell you exactly where we stand.
